Renee Lawless currently known for her portrayal of the lead character in Tyler Perry’s “The Haves and the Have Nots” on the OWN network. Beginning in 2013, she engaged fans as the dynamic and high profile socialite, Katheryn Cryer and each season evolved into an even more intriguing character. The show was the number one the OWN Network and has instantly became the most popular show in the Tuesday time slot, as well as the most popular show on Tuesday on social media.
A seasoned theater actress, she recently performed with the Broadway national tour of Wicked as the Midwife and Madame Morrible. Renee also appeared on Broadway in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast as Eggtimer, Ms. Potts and Madame de la Grande Bousch.
Renee’s additional theatrical credits include Menopause the Musical, Always Patsy Cline, Brigadoon, My Fair Lady and Nine. In television and film, Renee has been featured in “Heavens to Betsy” alongside Dolly Parton, Ghost Story, The Obituary and The Lucky Ones. She was recently awarded Best actress from the Creation International Film festival for the Indi Film, They Came and Left. In addition the film has received critical acclaim awards for excellence in acting and production. She played the staunch talent Agent Charlotte in the third season of Stuck With You on the ALLBLK network. Renee is also in pre-production of her own crafting series ( title TBA).
Renée says she went from the birthing table to the church pew. It was there her love for music developed. She released her first Gospel CD, ‘Renee Lawless A Live Sampler’ in 2002.
A motivational speaker, Renee is known as The Speaker’s Coach. She offers Keys to having confidence in your Presentational and Public Speaking Skills from the Conference room to the Convention Hall.
Renee is active with the Family Legacy Organization. Helping children in Zamba, receive clothing, education and medical attention while learning about Christ’s love. It has become her passion. She travel there each summer to assist with their CAMP LIFE program. There she is able to meet, teach, mentor and minister to over 700 children in a given week. A “Life Changing” experience.
Renee also lends her time and contributions to other youth organizations, New Paradiem Theater and Kids in the Spotlight to name a few.
Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, her family moved to Jacksonviile, Florida when she was nine years old. Renee is a graduate of Stetson University and did her Master studies at the University of Cincinnati in Vocal Performance. She currently divides her time between Los Angeles and Jacksonville.
